Artisan Show This Weekend

It's our show this weekend and I have very few things to offer. Cards ... lots of those ... new designs that are silly. Note cards ... they're not silly, they're practical. And my little books - five in the series now - two more coming. The second volume of LIFE LINES, and a new one, bigger one to boot.

After this, my intention is to jump into creating with both feet.
I am feeling a major NEED to be creative.

Life Lines

So really ... how pathetic is this - my last post in FEBRUARY. Have I been 'CreatEV' since then. Barely it seems. The year seems to have slipped through my fingers with very little time or focus on creativity. Who am I kidding ... 'Very Little'. Try - NONE. I haven't even been up to my studio since April. I'm hoping/planning/expecting that to change with the Christmas season coming up.

The only thing I really have accomplished these past months is to start a little line of books. I'll have them for sale at our 'In the Spirit' show on the weekend after Thanksgiving. Perhaps one day I'll figure out how to put a link to them here as well.

Two of them are tiny little 'pocket books' - the size of a business card - with quotes and my 'clothesline' collection. They're entitled 'LIFE LINES'. There's a little bigger one in the works with the same theme. So I have been busy playing pictures a little bit, but it's the hands on stuff I've got to get at.

So Much For Creating....

Two full months since I posted anything here.

It's not that I've let it go by the wayside ...

I'm actually NOT creating at the moment.

Been working full time at a Real Job.

I'm hoping to get back to producing in March.

In the meantime, sharing a wonderful figure

Addiction

I make a point

of staying away from fabric stores.

All that material is magnetic

to my eyes and my fingers.

I collect fabric.

I don’t like sewing.

I’m just addicted

to the

colour & texture.

I know my weakness.

I have not entered a fabric store all year.

I already have enough

for three lifetimes.

At this last minute, I decided that I need to make

my grandbabes a Christmas stocking.

I kept piling the fabric on the table.

The clerk asked what I was making.

‘Christmas Stockings.’ I replied.

‘HOW MANY?’ she questioned.

‘Just five.’

She sighed and started cutting.

I sighed too.

Sucked me in again.

I really love the task of packing up my creations

to send off to their new home.

It's not something that I rush through.

I take great care to

wrap each one carefully and lovingly.

It’s the last time I’ll see them after

all that time we spend together.

I love to imagine them arriving;

The box being opened;

The packages unwrapped.

My hands to their hands.

My home to their home.

My heart to their heart.

It’s a funny thing to imagine

something you’ve created

in someone else's home.

A lovely & wonderful thing.

I spent the entire day taking photos

of the remaining dozen creations.

And then I spent numerous hours

Editing and re-sizing them.

I used Photoshop instead of what I normally use.

Dozens & dozens of pictures.

I figured I was set to get at least five or six on Ebay tonight.

Nope.

Apparently photoshop sizing is different.

ALL of the photos are too poor quality to post.

I am well aware that everything that I do

takes three times longer than I expect that it will.

I allow for that.

BUT … it seems anymore, that three times has multipled into TEN.

I am working on 14 pieces.

It was 13, but for some silly reason, I couldn’t do that.

work til 2 am, then get up at 6 am and get at it again.

I am older now.

Not wiser, just tired-er.

I can not get enough of these little folk.

I LOVE making them:

Painting & antiquing their sweet little faces;

dying the fabric for their clothes;

and designing their little outfits.

It's just like I’m back playing dolls again.

I kinda get attached to them though,

and wish they could all live here

in a Little People Collection.

But they are just in waiting

to head off to another life.

They are waiting for a whole

lot more pieces

to go with them.

And then they'll find out who gets to go with who,

and what they'll be doing.
